Newest Addition

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the newest addition to our household, Mr. Sebastian Ferret. He is very mischievous, curious, and also goes by the names "Booger", "Booger-Butt", or "Ferret Face".  He terrorizes Chuck Norris and David Hasselhoff(Our cats), our dog Sheena thinks he is her puppy, and he sneezes around Frik and Frak, our Cockatiels.

Love My Netbook

Okay, so I am poor.  Not rich.  Don't have a lot of $$.  Etc.  can't afford a laptop, but I was able to swing a Netbook, with wife approval of course.

It is incredible.  It's not huge and clunky like a laptop.  It is small and convenient.  I am not going to be playing Crysis or any huge 3D FPS games on it any time soon, but it runs just like my old Windows XP desktop did. It's quick, smooth, and runs a full version of Windows XP home with antivirus and everything I use.  I thought the display would be tiny, but it is very clear and easy to see.

I am impressed, and I actually prefer this over the laptops I have used.  It's inexpensive.  I can't recommend it enough.

I Love My Children

When your children get home today, them, tell them that you love them, tell them the love you feel in your chest when you look at them.

Random Fact

At five minutes and six seconds after 4 AM on the 8th of July this year, the time and date will be:

04:05:06 07/08/09

This will not happen again for a thousand years.

Daughter's First Tournament

Much to my surprise, my daughter has taken a liking to bowling, of all things.  She had her first actual competition today, so queue the boring home movies in 3.2.1.

Country Music-It Hurts My Chest

I can't listen to country music.  I know you, dear reader, (all 3 of you), have had that pull in your chest, the pull of emotion so strong you feel as if you are going to be crushed from the pressure.  You have heard a song that causes you to think, to remember, to reflect, or to hurt.  Country does that to me.

Country music tells a story in it's truest form.  Not the Billy Ray Cyrus garbage, or Honky Tonk Badonkadonk Carrie Underwood mass produced pop country garbage, but actual folksy music that tells a tale of love or pain.  The tortured folk voice of Johnny Cash, the grinding gravely voice of Chris Kristofferson, the crooning voice of Ronnie Millsap,  Willie's voice, the voice of the true country singers.

When I wake up in the morning, I browse the channels in an effort to start some semblance of function in my brain.  I hit CNN (Robin Meade is attractive), Fox News, and try to skip past CMT.  A couple of mornings ago though, I heard this wonderful hillbilly Mandolin, Violin, Banjo music topped off by an angelic female voice, and one of the true country singers, Ricky Skaggs.  I love the sound of this song, and Ashley Monroe's voice is truly beautiful.

As I said before, I can't stand to listen to country because of my past, and the memories of Oklahoma, love, and the misdeeds of my asinine psyche.  This, however, feels good, like clean cold water on a hot day.

Here is the video.  Before you go "pffft Country", just close your eyes, let her voice wash over you, listen to the music, and see if you can't enjoy the sound without considering the genre.
