I Love This Song

My daughter says the video scares her.  The quiet at the end is unsettling.  This is my current favorite song.  As I get older, If she dies first, I can only hope to follow my wife, my beloved, into the dark.  If I die first, she says she will do the same.  We cannot survive without the other, and in my book, that is how true love should be.

Cheesy But Inspirational

I just got back from seeing "Rocky Balboa".  I know a lot of you make fun of this series, and Sylvester Stallone, but the Rocky series of movies, although incredibly cheesy, have always had some genuine inspiration in them.  They have become legend and legacy in cinema and movie making.

"Rocky Balboa" delivers.  It is much better than any of the series, maybe even the original Rocky.  It is heartfelt and original, and true to the original Rocky premise.  It brings us full circle with almost all characters in the entire movie series, and brings to a close this legend with respect and dignity.

I truly liked quite a few things that were said in the movie and related to them.  Examples:

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that..."

You kids now need to start taking responsibility for what you do.  Don't be weak, don't be a coward, don't blame it on everyone or everything else, stand up, take the hit and move forward.  Take responsibility.  Face it head on.  When you get hit hard and continue moving forward, you get respect, are stronger and more prepared to handle what comes.

"The only kind of respect that matters is self-respect."

The respect of your peers, of others is important, but not at the cost of respecting yourself.  In the end, the only person you need to be respected by is yourself.

Go see this movie.  You will laugh, cry, scream like you were at a real boxing match, and you will think.  It will leave you with inspiration and good feelings.

The Obligatory Post

I hope that on this day you can all find at least one thing good to think about.  I hope you can be surrounded by friends, family, loved ones, laughter and warmth.  For one day, just forget about everything, and revel in fun and love, peace and goodwill.

Happy Holidays to all.

My Daughter The R-Tard

Mapquest Helps You Find The Clitoris

The first thought that came to my mind was South Park-Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.  Even if you didn't see the movie, or don't watch South Park, you will get this.  (Adult material-slightly NSFW)

A Few Thoughts

Here are a few things that I have heard or read that really hit home for me.  They cause that pressure in my chest, and often bring tears to my eyes.  Some things I think about multiple times daily.

"...and one day you catch yourself wishing the person(s) you loved had never existed, so you'd be spared your pain."-Batman Begins
I have a child I never new about, and a child from my previous marriage.(See below).  I longed for the day to meet the boy who was hidden from me by my ex-wife, ("Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." -Shakespeare), and I discovered I had a daughter from a previous relationship.  Now that I have seen the type of people they are, I want nothing to do with them.  This causes me great pain.  I know it is weak, but I wish they had never existed, I wish that I could take back my seed, to spare me this pain.  They share my genetic material, but they not my children.

-"Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children." -William Makepeace Thackeray(Also The Crow)
I think about this when I pick up the elementary kids on my school bus route.  I am the first adult most of these children see in the morning, and usually the first nice adult.  Their mothers and fathers (when they are present) are usually unemployed and out drinking all night, or the other end of the spectrum, over-employed and too busy on the cell phone or trying to look good, trying to be superior to others.  This hits home. It is self explanatory.  If you don't get this and you are female, there is something seriously wrong with you and/or your priorities.  Fellow men, when you finally can understand this without the usual male reaction, you will have found your souls.

-"God gave us children so that we might have roses in December." -J. M. Barrie
This is actually an altered version of the original quote "God gave us our memories so that we might have roses in December."  I heard this in a movie, and instantly got it.  It instantly hit me.  When I look at my three children, they are my roses during the snow in the deep of winter, in December.  They are everything warm and beautiful to me in this world, the only good thing I have ever done.  I love you TJ, Randy-Roo, and Josh.

-"Buildings may burn and people may die, but true love is eternal." -From The Crow
I was married before, for the wrong reasons. It was sex back then and I was addicted to her blonde, amazon body. She was from a different "world" than me, white upper-class, and I was a "break dancer", a b-boy, ghetto all the way. I am married again, and there is a difference. I can feel the true love here, a bond untainted and pure.  Through everything, even unto death, my love for her will never die.  It's cheesy but true.  You complete me Kathy, I love you.

Speaking Of Starting Fresh...

I was hoping to just hang on and not re-install WinXP like I do every 6 months, but, alas, the last patch Tuesday (Windows Update) corrupted the WPA (Windows Product Activation) files and I could not get into the machine.  I worked on it for a few hours and finally said fuck it.

I love the way WindowsXP runs with a fresh, default install.  Can't wait to get my copy of Windows Vista Business Edition and Microsoft Office 2007.

Amazing how fast it went this time, and how much garbage I had on here that I didn't need.  Back to normal in 6 hours.

Windows Live Writer Working Again!

Thanks to "Mithrandir (Gandalf)", Windows Live Writer is working again! You can see this thread, or follow the instructions below.

 (Blogger beta only)

1. Delete your blog from your WLW program and re-add it like this:
2. PAGE 1: When adding it, choose "another weblog service"
3. PAGE 2:

  A. Weblog Homepage URL: (make something up.) This is the place where  WLW tries to be overly helpful and try to determine your blog platform for you. You don't want that because WLW isn't getting it right.
  B. Username: yourname@gmail.com
  C. Password: password

4. PAGE 3: (Now it's going to analyze and fail.. that's ok) It will take you to the page where you choose your weblog provider.

1. Choose Blogger (Atom)
2. In the Remote posting field, it's going to automatically enter this: http://www.blogger.com/feeds/<feed-id>/posts/full
3. Where it says "feed-id" you paste your blogger feed id.

  A. You can get this by going to your dashboard, click "new post" on the blog you need the ID for.  now look in your address bar, the ID number is everything after "blogid="

4. Press Next... where it's gonna try to download your template.. which it can't since you're offsite hosting your blog, so don't worry about that part.

5. Switch to this blog now.... make a post!

6. Try and download your web style, it might work.

Again, thanks to Mithrandir (Gandalf)!

I have decided after 10 years of using Blogger to start fresh. I deleted my 90,000+ post blog of 10 years. This is the first post!
